The argan tree is a very old tree that can reach around ten meters in height. It only grows on the sunny slopes of the Moroccan Atlas at an altitude below 800 meters. It loses its tough leaves in summer to combat drought.
Its branches are bristling with thorns and its fruits are berries the size of olives. The vegetable oil that we know is obtained by first cold pressing of almonds, corresponding to the seeds separated from the hard shell.

The Shea tree is an emblematic tree of the African savannahs, where it grows in the wild. It is found from Senegal to Uganda, via Burkina Faso. His name means "butter tree" in Wolof (Senegal); in Mali, the Bambaras call it shi yiri, hence its English name shea tree
Its nuts have been harvested for centuries by local populations to extract vegetable oil, which has the particularity of being solid at room temperature. This butter is used in cooking, cosmetics but also in traditional medicine.
An adult shea tree (i.e. over 30 years old!) will yield around 20 kg of fruit, which will produce 1 kg of butter.

The almond tree is a tree found all around the Mediterranean basin but the best quality comes from Malaga, Spain. It is a tree sensitive to frost whose pink flowering announces the very beginning of spring. Its leaves are narrow with a bright green upper surface and an opaque inner surface. Its green fruit has no food use, but its dried fruit is used because it contains a lot of protein. Almonds are capable of providing between 50% and 60% oil. Sweet almond milk is also used in cosmetics.

It produces a round, drupaceous fruit, 3 to 4 cm in diameter, in clusters. The thick pulp of the fruit is edible and covers a nut with a thin, woody shell which itself contains an almond full of oil. To extract the vegetable oil, you must then cut these almonds in half, let them dry in the sun for 2 months then press them to obtain the oil.
